Q & A

What is Harmony?

Harmony is a scalable, solid webplatform that has been built on Symfony. Every php-developer can easily add customized code to let the webplatform grow with your business. Content managers will love the sleek back-end which enables them to intuitively manage their content on a daily basis.

What is Symfony?

Symfony offers a set of reusable PHP components. It’s a standard foundation on which the best PHP applications are built. There’s a set of 30 stand-alone components available for applications. Harmony consists of bundles that are built on the Symfony framework.

What is a framework?

The Symfony framework actually is just a set of components and libraries that enable us to build an application. Compare it to the notes of a scale: you can choose whatever notes you want, to make your perfect theme song. A CMS is an application that’s been built on a framework. Harmony has been built on the Symfony framework.

Is Symfony open source?

Yes, Symfony is open source code. It has a vast community of developers, integrators, users and other contributors who participate in the ongoing enrichment of this tool. Harmony at the moment does not have a license model, so it is closed source. However, every line of code we provide for your project is your property. In that sense, you’re free to do with it whatever you want.

Is personalization possible with Harmony?

If you refer to adapting functionalities based on use cases, yes, personalization is possible. For example: Harmony keeps track of the customer’s buying history, so you can adapt your promotions to your buyer. If you’re looking for extreme personalization, based on a mathematical system and persona’s, Harmony may not be your best option. Although you can take it pretty far, taking into account that one of the key features of Harmony is its ability to integrate seamlessly with third party software. In that way, we can plug in some fancy marketing automation software to make personalization possible. To decide on the best technology for your platform, get in touch!

Can we see this Harmony-thing?

Of course! If you want to see some webshops working on Harmony, take a look at our client’s cases. If you’re more interested in the CMS and its functionalities, contact us. We’re happy to show you all functionalities and guide you through all available bundles in our back end.

What’s the difference with other CMS's?

Actually, we don’t like to call Harmony a CMS… Standard CMS’s are the central hub to manage your site, but Harmony works in a different way. Harmony is a webplatform that consist of different bundles. When we combine these bundles, they form a stable base and are comparable to a standard CMS, but the magic happens when we add customized code to make things work the way you want.

So if you really want to compare: It’s the endless customization possibilities, the scalability and the development roadmap that distinguishes Harmony from other CMS’s. Apart from that, it’s also much more versatile and adaptable to your specific needs.

One last important difference is that many other CMS’s are open source, which means that you have no impact on the future roadmap and possibly important changes. With Harmony you can lay out a personal development roadmap and take your future in your own hands.

What does the CMS look like?

It looks nice and neat, to be honest. If you want to see for yourself, contact us! Our people are happy to show you every single functionality. No big deal, especially because we worked on a userfriendly, easily manageable and intuïtive CMS. It almost works on its own. Almost.

What kind of bundles are standard?

Do you have a minute? Here’s a non-exhaustive list of possible bundles.

  • Core module: all CMS-functionalities like managing media, add and edit content blocks, make pages, navigation elements, search function, tagging, SEO, taxonomy, managing users and user groups, roles and security...
  • E-commerce module: add and edit products and related products, filter on properties and categories, shopping cart, online check-out, manage orders, online payments...
  • Extensions on e-commerce: promotion packs, campaigns, coupons, buying history...
  • Forms module: build your own web form
  • FAQ module
  • Blog module
  • Newsletter module
  • Translation module: no need for complex plug-ins that may or may not work together with your CMS. All is provided.

And yes, there’s more. Let’s talk about that in person.

On top of this standard package, we can easily customize to the extreme. Because we think everybody should play their own melody.

How about security?

We’re not a big fan of risky business. That’s why we built Harmony according to the market’s best practices concerning security. Obviously, we use SSL-certification. Authentication, user roles and security are easily manageable. When we set up your Harmony-site, we will strongly advise you to choose one of our premium hosting partners. Because we know that your data will be safe and any communication with third parties will be transferred through a secured channel. Better safe than sorry!

What about possible security updates?

First of all, they are rare. Because we thought it through beforehand and work proactively to counter any possible risks. So, by the time you know about potential security risks, we probably already got a fix.

We’ll apply the necessary security patches in your environment, in coöperation with you of course.

What about the connection to my CRM or ERP?

No issue, really. There are several possibilities. You can choose to upload al your data to our systems according to our API, or you can integrate your system into Harmony. We can provide custom API if that’s necessary, but we can use your API as well. Bottomline: we’ll make it work. We made it work every single time, even for the most complex systems. Harmony has been designed to have easy connections with third party applications, so we’re very confident that our Harmony can talk to your system too.

Who has built Harmony?

Harmony has been built bij Wijs, a digital agency with a strong technology branch. They created Harmony to meet the specific needs of customers looking for a custom webplatform with a solid foundation, that's easily scalable without impact on performance. Although Wijs has established the technology, the owners of the webplatform themselves own the code Wijs provided for them. In that sense, any php-developer can easily add customized code to make the webplatform grow with your business.
